DFI Week 4 Dealing with Data

Today we learnt about the Share (Tohatoha) pedagogy. Interesting to have learnt that during the 2020 lockdown Manaiakalani created many newsletters, and approximately 30 000 students were sharing using blogger. Understanding that sharing is human nature. In 2006 Manaiakalani's goal was to work with learners and educating them to share with an authentic audience. The largest audience are reached via Google.

Today I have learnt to create a google form. I have chosen to do one on my class inquiry about seeds. I have used five different types of questioning e.g. multi choice, short questions, paragraphing. which I will be sharing with my students.

I have created a mymap about my school ( Otahuhu Primary) location, giving the location a different purple colour to easily be visible.

In our afternoon session we looked at students from various schools blogs and create a spread sheet and graph . I have commented on a student and the frequency that he blogged between 2017 to present day 2021. It was interesting to see in his first year he only posted once and during the lockdown last year he posted 31 times but for this year so far only 6 posts. Creating this spreadsheets is a fantastic learning tool for myself and an excellent sharing tool in regards to sharing with students, staff and personally to gather data and analyse it.

DFI Week 3 Media

Today I have learnt all about the Create pedagogy. The Manaiakalani Hook places students at the centre of creating and learning, to be creative with their mind, hands, body and mouth. SISOMO sight, sound and motion was a take away for today. Also very interesting to learn that Manaiakalani has participated in a film festival for the past thirteen years. I have learnt to create google slides within a short space of time and present and share it with a group that I have worked with. I have successfully done a google drawing about myself and inserted it into my blog. With my learners I am now able to share videos from my You Tube Channel and playlist relating to our topic study. As an educator ongoing learning is Key, I am growing and acquiring new learning that will help me  professionally and personally.

Week 2 DFI

Today we learnt about Manaiakalani's Goals and how important the Ako is. It is important to know what your school's beliefs are are in learning and what the learning would look like. I have learnt to organise my gmail, giving it a theme, arranging mail to most recent first and creating a signature. I have also learnt to arrange my tabs in order of preference for easy access. I am more confident in sharing a video on my blog page. A good learning day for me!

We have learnt to set up a google meet with myself, Luciana and Alicia.I made a recording and commented on a video from a student's blog from another school.

Week 1 DFI

Today I have started an amazing journey. It has been interesting to have learnt that Manaiakalani started in 2006 and the history to how, why and where. In my first day I have gained some confidence in organising my drive into folders, creating a google document and learning how to organise headings and linking them for easy access when sharing with others. A highlight in my learning was creating a poster that would be excellent in teaching my Year 1 and 2 class. As a junior teacher learning to be able to do voice typing is an absolute treasure as running records is part of everyday literacy teaching an assessment in a junior class.

My proud creation today is a poster for Otahuhu Primary for our Otahuhu"s Got Talent competition
