DFI Week 7 Devices
In our session today Vicki presented on Cybersmart. Manaiakalani has embedded Cybersmart as part of their goals. In 2011 Manaiakalani piloted 1-1 devices. Being Cybersmart is referred to as the roof of our houses.I n 2012 some schools trialed the Manaiakalani curriculum. Professional development was then provided to support teachers. In present day all learners are required to learn cybersmart language. Being cybersmart are empowering students to be confident, connected and life long learners. We have learnt about the importance of learning being ubiquitous (anytime, anywhere and at any pace). Ubiquitous learning is rewindable, visible and keeps students connected. During 2020 and our covid 19 lockdowns some of our students learning suffered even though we provided them with learning packs. I do see how ubiquitos learning will now benefit our students. Students can now access our classroom google sites where teachers can provide learning resources and tasks for students to do from home. At the same time when teachers are not able to be in class they can leave prepared tasks for students. In my class my students are now learning to access our class site. They are becoming familiar with the homepage, finding buttons for the different learning areas and attempting the tasks. This is great when having multiple groups in the class and they can find their learning group on the class site. Ubiquitous learning will also be a remedy for the summer slump after the long school holidays as we do experience.

DFI Week 6 Enabling Access - Sites
Being connected in the digital age is important. There are many clusters that are part of the Manaiakalani Programme. It is important to have a shared language of Learn, Create, Share. The Manaiakalani programme has been designed to share the pedagogy every year. Manaiakalani implements a Kaupapa that requires four elements: being connected, ubiquitous learning, being empowered and being visible.
Being visible again was one of the key learning aspects today. We dealt with the purpose of a learning site. Students should know where to access learning. The learning sites should be visually appealing and the layout should be easily accessible for students. I have worked on my class site today and have tried to make it more appealing.

DFI Week5 Collaborate Sites
Today we have learnt why being visible is important. Manaikalani uses a framework of a house to understand where teachers, the school and learners fit in. The joist needs to be strong as it is the foundation. We have to put our fears aside and so that the learning journey is visible. We have to think of planning, process, outcomes and assessment to achieve success. We have learnt to make a multi model site. Learning to create multi modal sights has opened up a new way of integrating different types of texts.
Please click on the screenshot below and visit my multi modal sight that I have created about Relationships.
I have created another sight about Matariki.
